Wind is Picking Up: Four More Projects Now in the Works
Combined with the 10 previous agreements announced in 2024, the four new projects would add enough electricity to BC Hydro’s grid by 2033 to power 850,000 homes, creating 11,500 jobs along the way

Four more proposed renewable power projects have joined the 10 wind and solar facilities already working their way through British Columbia’s regulatory approvals process.
On May 13, 2026, following a competitive process, the Province of British Columbia announced that BC Hydro had signed four electricity purchase agreements with independent power producers and their First Nations partners.

Subject to community consultations and regulatory approvals, the four projects would generate enough clean, renewable electricity to power another 350,000 homes.
They are also expected to generate $4.3 billion in private investment, including more than $2 billion in ownership for First Nations partners, and 1,500 jobs.
Combined with the 10 call-for-power projects previously announced in September 2024, the four additional projects will add 8,500 gigawatt-hours of clean and renewable electricity to BC Hydro’s system by 2033, enough to power 850,000 homes. In total, the 14 projects will generate an estimated 11,500 jobs.
If approved and built as planned, BC Hydro expects the 14 wind and solar projects to begin coming online as early as 2032, with all in service by October 2033.
